This privacy policy describes how PlantStation ("we", "our app") handles your information. We do not sell your data.

1. Data we collect and store​

On your device (local only)​

All of the following are stored only on your device in the app's local database and files:

  • Plant data – Names, plant types, notes, and optional photos you add for each plant.
  • Watering records – Dates you watered, optional weight readings (before/after), and optional photos.
  • App settings – Your preferences (e.g. weight units, whether cloud backup is on or off, onboarding completion).
  • Device identifier – A random UUID generated by the app, used only for optional cloud backup (see below).

We do not collect your name, email, or any account information. There is no sign-in.

Optional cloud backup (photos only)​

If you turn on cloud backup in settings:

  • What is sent: Only the photos attached to your watering records (image files).
  • Where it goes: Photos are uploaded to our backup service (hosted infrastructure we use to store them).
  • Why: So you can restore those photos if you reinstall the app or move to a new device (e.g. via export/import).
  • Control: You can disable cloud backup in settings at any time. We do not upload plant names, notes, weights, or other data to the cloud—only the photo files.

2. How we use your data​

  • App functionality – To show your plants, watering history, reminders, and weights; and to honour your settings.
  • Backup (optional) – If backup is on, only to store and restore your watering photos as described above.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

3. Data storage and retention​

  • On device: Data remains until you uninstall the app or clear its data. We do not set an automatic deletion period.
  • In backup (if enabled): Photos are stored on our backup service for as long as you use the feature. If you disable backup, we do not use the stored photos for any other purpose; retention on the backup service follows our normal operational and legal retention practices.

4. Sharing and third parties​

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for their marketing or advertising.

  • Backup service: If cloud backup is on, photo files are sent to our backup infrastructure (e.g. Cloudflare Workers and associated storage) solely to provide backup and restore. This is not "sharing" for marketing purposes.
  • Legal: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or the safety of others.

5. Your choices and rights​

  • Cloud backup: Turn it off in app settings so no new photos are uploaded. Existing backups may remain until our retention practices remove them.
  • All data: Uninstalling the app (and clearing app data) removes all local data from your device. We cannot delete data from your device remotely.
  • No account: Because there is no account, we do not hold a central profile for you. Rights to access or delete "your account" do not apply in the usual sense; all user data is either on your device or, if backup was on, limited to photo files on our backup service.

6. Children​

PlantStation is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the app and we hold data about them, contact us and we will address it.

7. Changes to this policy​

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will be revised when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy. For material changes, we will provide notice in the app or via the store listing where practicable.
