Registration: Players, entries and payments

This guide is for tournament organizers who need to move from player registration to ready-to-generate brackets. You will add players, create entries per competition, and prepare seeding before bracket generation.

Before you start, it helps to know the difference:

  • Players are people in the tournament and can join multiple competitions.
  • Entries are competition registrations (one player in singles, two players in doubles/mixed doubles).

Add players and entries manually

  1. Go to People > Players and click Add player.
  2. Search for an existing club member or create a new player profile.
  3. Assign the player to one or more competitions as needed.
  4. Go to People > Entries and click Add entry.
  5. Select the competition, choose the player(s), and set a seed value if required.
  6. Repeat until each competition has complete entries.

You can also bulk-create entries from People > Players by selecting multiple players and clicking Create entries.

tip

The players and entries screens will show you entries that have an issue you need to resolve. A warning icon will show next to entries that need more players, or players that are not registered for any competition.

Prepare brackets after entries are ready

  1. Confirm there are no warning icons in People > Players or People > Entries.
  2. Review seed values for entries you want separated in early rounds.
  3. Open each competition and generate its bracket using the selected format.
  4. Verify first-round pairings before publishing or starting matches.

Expected result

  • Players are registered at the tournament level.
  • Every competition has valid entries (and seed values where needed).
  • Brackets are generated successfully with first-round matches ready.

Troubleshooting

  • Cannot generate a bracket: Check for incomplete entries or missing players in an entry.
  • Player is missing from a competition: Add the player to the competition from People > Players or create an entry manually.
  • Doubles entry is invalid: Make sure two players are assigned to each doubles or mixed doubles entry.
  • Seeding looks wrong: Update seed values in People > Entries before regenerating.

Player sign-up via the MixItOne portal

You can allow players to self-register through the MixItOne portal to reduce admin work.

For detailed information on configuring player sign-up, including setting up payment methods, descriptions, and enabling sign-ups per competition, see the Player Sign-Up Configuration guide.
